Description

Mackie Ramsay Taylor were architects and lead designer for 6no. Schools under the Forfar & Carnoustie Schools Project. Woodlands Primary School (illustrated) is typical of our design approach. This this modern, single storey, ‘community’ primary school sits in an attractive wooded site and provides light, airy, classrooms, activity spaces, school library, multi-purpose hall, ICT facilities, as well as an integral pre-school nursery; the school provides for community access to facilities also. Externally, the grounds have been landscaped to provide soft and hard play areas, including a small football area and nursery play space.

The building design includes sustainable design measures, including the use of natural ventilation stacks, roof lighting, and ‘A’ rated materials and components when evaluated against BREEAM’s ‘green guide’.
